Physical DescriptionSheet of fifty 10c air postage stamps issued by the Republic of Columbia commemorating the Kennedy administration 'Alliance for Progress' between the United States, Columbia, and Venezuela. Stamp depicts the "Alianza Para el Progreso" logo side by side with a portrait of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and JFK's birth and death dates. Sheet Marked upper right "No. 5000003."
Historical NoteThe Alliance for Progress (Spanish: Alianza para el Progreso) was initiated by U.S. President John F. Kennedy on March 13, 1961, in order to improve establish economic cooperation between the United States and Latin America. Strong support and further building of Alliance membership continued during the Johnson administration.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
