Physical DescriptionPhotographic portrait of Dr. H. Kamuza Banda of Malawi. Black and white with white mat. Enclosed in plain silver frame (B). Green plush back. Four hallmarks. Artist signature at lower center: [illegible].
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten on white mat across the bottom: "To H. E. The Rt. Hon. Lyndon Johnson, President of the United States of America, with warm personal regards and high esteem”.
Historical NoteDr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda was the first president of Malawi, ruling from 1966 to 1994.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
