Physical DescriptionPhysical DescriptionBronze coin dated to Hebrew King Herod the Great. The obverse of the coin shows a tripod holding a ceremonial bowl and Greek lettering. The reverse has Greek text "Of Herod the King".
Historical NoteThis coin was part of a set of Herodian (Ancient Hebrew) coins presented to President Johnson by Prime Minister Levi Eshkol of Israel during an official visit to the LBJ Ranch on January 7-8, 1968. It was minted during the reign of King Herod the Great (37-4 B.C.).Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
