Physical DescriptionPhysical DescriptionBronze coin dated to Hebrew leader Mattathias Antignus. The obverse of the coin is undecipherable from wear. The reverse of the coin has a double cornucopia and Hebrew lettering.
Historical NoteThis coin was part of a set of Hasmonean (Ancient Hebrew) coins presented to President Johnson by Prime Minister Levi Eshkol of Israel during an official visit to the LBJ Ranch on January 7-8, 1968. Minted during the leadership of Mattathias Antigonus (40-37 B.C.).Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
