Physical Description
Physical DescriptionBracelet. 11 gold wire-mounted amber ovals and 1 amber teardrop dangle. Each amber piece has three facets on each side. Two fine gold chains connect the wire mounts to each other. The catch comprises an oval wire loop on one end and a sliding circle with a screwpin stop. Possibly Baltic amber. Metalwork appears hand done, except for catch. No markings. Presented at the Latin American Summit Conference at Punte del Este, Uruguay.
Historical NoteThis amber bracelet was given to the Johnson family by His Excellency Joaquin Balaguer, President of the Dominican Republic on April 12, 1967, during the Latin American Summit Conference in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the President, First Lady or member of the First Family during President Johnson's term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 20, 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
