Physical DescriptionBrooch. Gold-dipped preserved fern leaf. Hinged pin with safety catch.
Historical NoteThis gold fern leaf brooch was made in Hawaii and given to Lady Bird Johnson in June 1971. This piece of “floral jewelry” was made from a real plant picked in a Hawaiian garden and dipped in 24 karat gold.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
