Physical Description
Physical DescriptionPeacock brooch. Gold niello over sterling silver. Front view of a peacock with extended tail feathers and long legs. The tail feathers section moves. The surface of the pin is textured with black detailing. A pin with a safety catch is attached on the back.
Inscriptions and MarkingsStamped on back :"Tahinakon", "Sterling", "Thailand".
Historical NoteLady Bird Johnson received this peacock brooch while in Bangkok, Thailand during the 1966 Asian trip.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
