Physical DescriptionLBJ Special Cancellation Postcard. The cachet on the envelope is a portrait of LBJ and the Presidential Seal. Cachet text: "The Great Society". Stamp adhered at upper right: 5c Register/Vote stamp. Postmarked at: Washington DC - Jan 10, 1967.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "Everett M. Dirksen", "Gerald R. Ford". On reverse handwritten across bottom: "LBJ 3rd State of the Union message - signed by Republican leaders of Senate and House".
Historical NoteThis LBJ Great Society postcard was postmarked on January 10, 1967 from Washington, DC - the date and location of President Johnson's 3rd State of the Union address. It was signed by the Republican leaders of the Senate and House of Representative.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
