Physical DescriptionGlazed terra cotta bowl with streaks of green and gold radiating from the center alternate streaks of cream with drops of dark red-brown intersperced.
Historical NoteThis bowl dating from the 9th or 10th Century was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson by His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shahanshah of Iran on June 5, 1964, during a private visit to Washington, D.C. Accompanying information states the bowl was discovered during excavations conducted in 1960.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson during the Johnson administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
