Physical DescriptionPhysical Description17-jewel HMK Citizen wristwatch. Stainless steel case with gold rim, sides, and stem housing. A white face with gold hands and hour marks. A black leather band with a gold-tone buckle is attached. Text on the face reads: "hmk" "Citizen" "Para Shock 17 Jewels".
Inscriptions and MarkingsOn reverse: "G.P." "Stainless Steel Back" "14502".
Historical NoteThis wristwatch was given to President Johnson by Her Excellency Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India after a head of state visit to the White House in April, 1966. The gift was delayed reaching the U.S. and came through the Indian Embassy after Gandhi’s visit.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
