A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower left. Caption: “A Million Dollar Masterpiece!”. Artist signature lower left: "Ed Valtman ‘65”.

Historical NoteAs a part of the Great Society programs, Lyndon Johnson signed the National Foundation for the Arts and Humanities Act on September 29, 1965, which founded the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
