Physical DescriptionPhysical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man ("Hoople") sits on a bench and says “Egad, Fogarty, how deplorable! Those bottles and cans besmirch the escutcheon of our fair land! -Hak-kaff!- They never decompose and soon all American will be hip-deep in them! Somebody should do something about this litter menace!” to Policeman Fogarty. Fogarty says “Aw, it’s a lost cause major - especially since the advent of the no-deposit bottle! The park department boys truck a load of them out every night - but there’s a new crop of empties in the morning!" Caption: “Glass and Aluminum are Forever”. Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
