Historical NoteAfter the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson kept most of his cabinet. Some notable members of Johnson's cabinet were Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and Secretary of the Treasury Henry H. Fowler. Johnson also created new cabinet positions such as the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
