Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man ("The Other 47") gestures toward a giant cowboy hat ("1955 National Leadership") atop the Capitol dome. He asks, "You Texans always do things in such a big way?" A nearby document on the ground reads: "Pres. Eisenhower - Lyndon B. Johnson Senate Majority Leader - Sam Rayburn House Speaker - Texans All!". Artist signature lower left: "Dale."
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across bottom: "[left arrow] 3 cols [right arrow]" "December 24, 1954".
Historical NoteIn 1954, when this cartoon was created, Dwight Eisenhower was President, Sam Rayburn was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and then Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader - all were Texans.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
