Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ and a man (identifiable as Aleksey Kosygin) have each climbed to the top of a missile with a star and a missile with a hammer and sickle. They now stare up at higher missiles ("ABM $" and “ABM $”) above the clouds. Caption: “What Say We Camp Here?”. Artist signature lower right: "Brooks The Birmingham News”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: “-make 29 picas wide-”. Handwritten at lower right: “-Thursday- March 9th, 1967”.
Historical NoteDuring the Johnson administration and general postwar era, much foreign policy was dictated by the Cold War, the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union for political influence amidst decolonization, associated with proxy wars, ideological struggles, the nuclear arms race, and the space race. ABM means anti-ballistic missile.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
