Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is pushing a baby ("Economy in Government") in a carriage over rocks ("Endless Demands"). LBJ comments, "We mustn't let these rocks stop us". Caption: “His Baby”. Artist signature lower left: "Rube Goldberg”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: “5 ½”” “495”. Handwritten at lower center: [blue] “10619”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson faced many obstacles when managing the economy in order to fund the Great Society and Vietnam War.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
