Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, with a large money bag, looks back as another man ("Rocky") who has a smaller bag taps him on the shoulder and holds out his hat. Behind Rocky, another man (“Lindsay”) taps him on the back and holds out his hat. He has no bag of money. In unison Rocky and Lindsay say, "Brother, can you spare a kickback?" Artist signature lower right: "Warren King”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: [blue] “Wed Jan 4-1966”.
Historical NoteIn 1966, the year this cartoon was made, the United States federal government had a budget of $134.5 billion. Nelson Rockefeller was the Republican governor of New York and John Lindsay was the Republican mayor of New York City.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
