Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, with a phone in one hand, rocks a cradle with a crying baby with the other hand. Caption: “Dr. Spock? President Johnson--I'd Like Some Advice. No! No! Not About Vietnam–”. Artist signature lower center: "Fischetti”. A small piece of paper “Publishers-Hall Syndicate, 1967” adhered to upper center.

Historical NoteBenjamin Spock was a pediatrician and activist who worked with Martin Luther King Jr. and spoke out against the Vietnam War. Patrick Lyndon Nugent, President Johnson’s first grandchild, was born in 1967.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
