Historical NotePresident Johnson was a very doting grandfather when his first grandchild, Patrick Lyndon Nugent, was born. Love for his grandson even went to far as to ease the initial tensions at the Glassboro Summit with Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin. Both were recent grandfathers and shared pictures of their grandchildren during the summit.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
