Historical NoteOn August 6, 1966, Luci Johnson married Patrick Nugent at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception with a reception ceremony at the White House. The marriage was televised and highly reported on. Barry Goldwater was the Republican presidential candidate that ran against Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
