Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ escorts Luci up the aisle at her wedding as the congregation watches. A small piece of paper “Editors: For Use Aug. 6” adhered to lower center. Caption: “Not 'Hail to the Chief' Today!”. Artist signature lower left: "Morris”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: [blue] "To President and Mrs. Johnson - John Milt Morris".
Historical NoteOn August 6, 1966, Luci Johnson married Patrick Nugent at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception with a reception ceremony at the White House. The marriage was televised and highly reported on.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
