Historical NoteLady Bird was heavily involved as First Lady. During the 1964 election, she campaigned for President Johnson in her Lady Bird Special charter train in the south. She also promoted the Highway Beautification Act and other beautification initiatives around the country.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
