Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ stands at a race track rail and throws away a ticket ("Foreign Aid") as a horse ("Nigeria") falls on the track, throwing the rider ("Balewa"). Caption: “Can't Win 'Em All”. Artist signature lower right: "B. Green”.

Historical NoteIn January 1966, several military leaders attempted a coup against Prime Minister Abubakar Balewa of Nigeria. Although Balewa was killed in the coup, the coup failed.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
