Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Boxer LBJ holds up his right arm with a bulging muscle ("Gov't Food Surplus") and a glove ("Foreign Policies"). His left arm also has a large muscle ("Gov't Metal Surplus") and a glove ("Domestic Policies"). Caption: “Got Another Power Punch!”. Artist signature lower right: "Sandeson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "For President Johnson with good wishes - Bill Sandeson".
Historical NoteThe 1966 Food for Freedom Program was a foreign aid program to send food to countries dealing with hunger and promote food production in those countries. The Johnson Administration submitted 87 bills to Congress, and Johnson signed 84, or 96%, arguably the most successful legislative agenda in US congressional history.
