Historical NoteIn April 1967, Lyndon Johnson met with the heads of state in Latin America in Punta del Este, Uruguay, promising financial support to other nations in the Americas. In this cartoon, his hat becomes a volcano because of the volatile nature of these negociations and the risk of Communism spreading.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
