Historical NoteRobert F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson each represented a different side to the Democratic Party in the 1960s. Kennedy disagreed with Johnson’s Vietnam policy and became a prominent war critic. James Farley was the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
