Historical NoteIn 1967, Johnson sent Hubert Humphrey to several countries in Europe to fix relations and increase support for the Vietnam War. In April 1967, Lyndon Johnson met with the heads of state in Latin America in Punta del Este, Uruguay, promising financial support to other nations in the Americas.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
