Historical NoteDuring the Johnson administration, many decisions were made in the context of the Cold War power struggle. Lyndon Johnson followed containment policy. He escalated the Vietnam War and offered foreign aid to many countries. The three men depict "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
