Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. On a snowy night, LBJ opens a door to find a guilty-looking dog ("Foreign Policy") with 6 new puppies trailing behind. A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower left. Caption: “For Heaven's Sake--As If I Didn't Have Problems Enough”. Artist signature lower left: "Ed Valtman ‘64”.

Historical NoteDuring the Johnson administration, many decisions were made in the context of the Cold War power struggle. Lyndon Johnson followed containment policy. He escalated the Vietnam War and offered foreign aid to many countries.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
