Historical NoteIn 1966, France and the Soviet Union made a “declaration of intent” to end all foreign war in Vietnam. Around the same time, President Johnson and King Faisal of Saudi Arabia met to solidify their commitment to guard against the expansion of international communism. Despite this opposing viewpoints, President Johnson and Prime Minister Kosygin met a year later to discuss this topic at the Glassboro Summit.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
