Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Cowboy LBJ sits on a donkey ("Dem. Congress") in front of White House. He is talking to a man (identifiable as Richard Nixon), who is dressed in a business suit. Caption: “Well, Then, Let's Start with Some Riding Lessons”. Artist signature lower right: "Ed Valtman ‘68”. A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower right.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: “52 ½”. Handwritten at upper right: [circle] “Nov. 8.”.
Historical NoteRichard Nixon won the 1968 presidential election. On January 20, 1969, he was inaugurated as president and Lyndon Johnson left office. The 91st Congress, which served from January 3, 1969 to January 3, 1971, had a democratic majority in both the House and the Senate.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
