Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ stands at a podium ("Press Conference") with his hands and pockets full of papers ("Favorable News Plants") in front of a crowd. He says, "I brought along some clippings-you may quote from them-". Caption: “The Politician's Dream”. Artist signature lower right: "Parrish”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To President Johnson, from Joe Parrish".
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson was very involved with the media, but unlike Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, he had less televised news conferences and more informal interviews. President Johnson paid close attention to the media as well and kept three televisions in the Oval Office.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
