Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ lays in a hospital bed surrounded by attentive nursing staff. LBJ thinks, "I've been sick before -- and, once again with the help of "Him" and Lady Bird and the girls and all of the nice people and the good Lord -- I'll be up an' at 'em again soon!!!". The nurses say: "A few pecans from the folks at the Ranch, Mr. Johnson.", "Southern Comfort, sir?", We love you Mr. Johnson -- Just like you love your country.", "A get well card from your old students at Cotulla!", "Here's a slice of home made bread and a few of your favorite Mexican dishes, Mr. President", "Ready for your little pink pill?", "Everyone says that our President is such a wonderful man -- and so warm hearted", "Yaw - I yust come over from Sveden, Mr. Yohnson - An' I'm yumping at the shance to give you a Svedish massage!!", "Lynda Bird send in the dominoes for a nice quiet game.", "And - a nice batch of home made cookies from Lucy!!!", "Your favorite record, Mr. Johnson - before your afternoon nap." A beagle at LBJ's bedside says, "I've sure missed ya, Boss!" Caption reads: "We're All Pulling for You, Mr. President -- and We Wish You a Full, Speedy Recovery!" Artist signature lower right: "Ed Brolin Holland, Mich."
Historical NoteOn October 8, 1965, President Johnson underwent gallbladder surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
