Historical NoteLyndon Johnson passed laws to protect disabled people's rights and expanded the legal definition of disability. Senator Birch Bayh was an Indiana Democrat that wrote Title IX and Emanuel Cellar was a Democrat in the House. In January 1965, President Johnson was hospitalized for a respiratory infection.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
