Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A happy elephant (“G.O.P.”) in a suit says, "My scar repair came through just GREAT!" to LBJ as he enters the hospital with a suitcase. A small piece of paper “McNaught Syndicate, Inc.”. Caption: “Hope Y'do as Well, Lyndon”. Artist signature lower center: "Reg Manning”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at center: "Sincere regards to President Johnson who heals quick Reg Manning". Handwritten at lower left: “3 col”. Handwritten at lower center: “Mailing”. Stamped at lower center: “Nov 10 1966”.
Historical NoteOn October 8, 1965, President Johnson underwent gallbladder surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital to remove gall stones.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
