Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man at a crowded stadium ("The United Stadium of America") on the map of the United States announces, "Lad-eez and Gen-tle-men! There will be three preliminary bouts - one in Congress this winter - one at the primaries next spring - and one at the national conventions next summer! Then comes the big fight next fall for the political heavy weight championship!". A small piece of paper “Copyright, 1927, by The Chicago Tribune” adhered to lower right. Caption: “The Preliminaries of the Big Fight Begin Next Week”. Artist signature lower right: "McCutcheon”.
Historical NoteIn 1928, Herbert Hoover won the presidency as a Republican against Democrat Al Smith.
