Historical NoteDuring the 1964 election cycle, Lyndon B. Johnson ran as the Democratic candidate against Republican Barry Goldwater. In this cartoon, Johnson sees that the pulse of the nation reads "Johnson". He won the 1964 election in a landslinde with 61% of the popular vote. "In your heart, you know he's right" was Goldwater's campaign slogan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
