Physical DescriptionPhysical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. In the upper left is a landscape and a sign (“this is New Mexico”). A man (“State chairman”) sits sadly as a man carries away a portrait of LBJ. A sign ("Democratic State Headquarters") hangs on the wall. A woman says, "Looking back, Mr. Volden, maybe you should have been nicer to Bobby when he was here!". Lower left inset frame: A man reads a newspaper and says, “Sez here New Mexico cattle growers have been meetin’ up in Santa Fe”. Another man answers, “Did anyone mention lowerin’ th’ price of steak?”. Additional text across the top of inset frame: “The Lone Stranger and Pronto”. Artist signature lower right: "McGinnis”.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
