Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A sleeping man ("Congress") sits at his desk, dreaming he is breaking rocks for prison warden LBJ. LBJ bursts in with a large stack of papers ("Must Legislation") for an empty box (“In”). A second box (“Out”) full of stacks of paper ("Enacted Legislation"). A note (“Home by Labor Day!”) is on his desk. Caption: “Yoohoo! It's Time to Drop Your Daydreaming!”. Artist signature lower right: "Ed Valtman ‘69”. A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower right.
Historical NoteThe Johnson Administration submitted 87 bills to Congress, and Johnson signed 84, or 96%, arguably the most successful legislative agenda in US congressional history.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
