Historical NoteAfter leaving office in January 1969, Lyndon Johnson went to his ranch in Texas. He attended the opening of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1971 and his memoirs The Vantage Point: Perspectives of the Presidency 1963–1969 was published that same year. He died of a heart attack on January 22, 1973.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
