The sign stretches from Big Ben to the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A figure holds a sign (“Keep the U$ [US] green!”). Additional text at lower left: “Boston Herald-Traveler”. Artist signature lower left: "Dobbins."

Historical NotePresident Johnson announced plans for a travel tax which would tax Americans traveling outside the Western hemisphere. However, this was shelved in March 1968 by the House Ways and Means Committee.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
