Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ looks at a sign ("Yankee Go Home") that he has painted. The sign stretches from Big Ben to the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A figure holds a sign (“Keep the U$ [US] green!”). Additional text at lower left: “Boston Herald-Traveler”. Artist signature lower left: "Dobbins."

Historical NotePresident Johnson announced plans for a travel tax which would tax Americans traveling outside the Western hemisphere. However, this was shelved in March 1968 by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
