Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Four men smoking cigars walk past two posters ("Keep US Dollars" and "Don't travel Abroad") as they push a man with a suitcase aside. The first man has tickets ("Foreign Junkets"). Caption: “Excuse Us--We're Congressmen!”. Artist signature lower right: "Arthur Henrikson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: “213”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson announced plans for a travel tax which would tax Americans traveling outside the Western hemisphere. However, this was shelved in March 1968 by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
