Physical Description
Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (“De Gaulle”) sits by a bag of gold and pans a stream ("U.S. Gold"). LBJ places a boulder ("Proposed Travel Restrictions") at the head of the stream to block it. Artist signature lower right: "Pierotti”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson announced plans for a travel tax which would tax Americans traveling outside the Western hemisphere. However, this was shelved in March 1968 by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
