Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ shows a map ("See the Americas First") of the Western Hemisphere to a man ("$") with a coin head. The man carries a bag ("Overseas Investment Folio") and a suitcase with stickers (“London”, “Paris”, “Rome”, “Madrid”, and “Berlin”). Caption: “Now, For the Next Two Years–”. Artist signature lower right: "Ralph Vinson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: [red] “States Editorial”. Handwritten at lower left: “426”. Handwritten at lower center: [red] “5 ¾””. Handwritten at lower right: [red] “Wed - Jan 3, 1968”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson announced plans for a travel tax which would tax Americans traveling outside the Western hemisphere. However, this was shelved in March 1968 by the House Ways and Means Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
