Physical DescriptionPhysical DescriptionOriginal two-frame cartoon drawing. Frame 1: LBJ looks at a blackboard (“State of the Union”) with writing ("Bullets OR Butter?"). He waves his hand at it. Frame 2: He straps on ammunition belts, one filled with bullets and one with sticks of butter. The board ("Bullets AND Butter!") has been changed and the eraser hangs under the board. Caption: “Great Society Battle Dress”. Artist signature lower right: "Bob Taylor”.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
