Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A laborer hands LBJ a paper ("Resolution: You can count on complete backing of the American labor movement --AFL-CIO"). LBJ pulls at another paper ("Southeast Asia Crisis") that lies on the table. Caption: “Another Expression of Confidence”. Artist signature lower left: "John Baer for Labor".

Historical NoteThe American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) is a federation of 60 unions formed in 1955. In 1958, the AFL-CIO announced a 10-point plan including raising the minimum wage from $1 to $1.25, loans, housing, civil rights, education aid, healthcare, unemployment benefits, farm legislation, and defense.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
