Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Happy visitors ("Labor", "Management") stand by the bedside of a smiling patient ("The Principle of Collective Bargaining Saved from a Railroad Crack-Up by Dr. LBJ"). A picture of a train is on the wall above the bed. In the front, a doctor holds up a chart showing an upward trend and a woman carries a flower pot. Caption: “For a While We Feared We Might Lose You!”. Artist signature lower right: "Yardley”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at center left: [circle] “5 ¾ in. wide Fri. A.M.”. Handwritten at center left: “68”.
Historical NoteIn April 1964, President Johnson ended a 5-year dispute over railroad industry, giving a raise to about half of the workers in the union as well as other benefits and averting a strike.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
