Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (“Mansfield”) sits at his desk (“Senate Majority Leader”), muttering, and wiping his brow. He holds a postcard from LBJ (“Dear Mike: Having a wonderful time in Turkey…Wish you were here! L.B.J."). Caption: “And I Wish YOU Were HERE!”. Artist signature lower right: "Jim Berryman Washington Star”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at upper left: “3 cols - Thurs. Aug - 30 / ‘62”.
Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was made, Mike Mansfield was the Senate Majority Leader. He could work across party lines and during Johnson's administration, he got a lot of Great Society legislation passed.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
