Historical NotePresident Johnson desperately wanted to get Ho Chi Minh to meet him for a peace talk, but Minh always refused. LBJ felt that if he could just get Ho Chi Minh to a negotiating table, he could use the "Johnson Treatment" to settle the war. Hence, the dove (peace) cups and sour expressions on Ho Chi Minh’s and Mao's faces.
