Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. "GOP" man with a fly swatter aims for Cupid flying above. LBJ wears an "I Like Ike" button as he hugs a reluctant Dwight Eisenhower. Cupid is attempting to shoot his arrow at the "Accord on Viet Nam" heart hovering over LBJ and Ike. A small penguin is seen lower left with an apple on his head and an arrow through his head. Artist signature upper right: "Oliphant © 1965 The Denver Post". Also printed sideways at the lower left: "1965 The Los Angeles Times Syndicate".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To President Johnson - Respectfully Pat Oliphant"
Historical NoteAs president, Lyndon B. Johnson looked to Dwight Eisenhower for advice on the Vietnam War, demonstrating the value Johnson placed on bi-partisanship.
